Speed Racer: Welcome to the World of Vic Chesnutt is a half-hour documentary film. It introduces the audience to the then twenty-seven year old singer/songwriter from Athens, Georgia. The recording of Vics second album is used as a vehicle to enter Chesnutts all-impressionistic world. Vics a uniquely talented Southern lyricist whose songwriting is paralleled by few. Through song and interview, he speaks to the audience in his own distinct southern tongue. In the end this film captures an incredible musician in the early days of an extraordinary career.
